“Words and magic were in the beginning one and the same thing, and even today words retain much of their magical power.” ~ Sigmund Freud, Introductory Lectures
Granted, hypnosis is not magic (not really). Hypnosis is simply a state of human consciousness involving focused attention, reduced peripheral awareness, and an enhanced capacity to respond to suggestion. As you begin to imagine something different, the process of experiencing something different can begin to happen as hypnosis has the potential to positively alter the neural circuits involved in your perception and decision making.
The experience of hypnosis can be therapeutic, familiar, practical & pleasurable. It may even feel like magic, but the effect... that is entirely real.
"He who looks outside dreams; he who looks within awakes." ~ Carl Jung
